Mike Mills, manager of operations, has been an employee of SYEMC for 18 years. Prior to his current role, Mills served as the company’s crew foreman and lead lineman. Having made the move to SYEMC from Pike Electric in an effort to spend more time with his family, he quickly gained an additional family in his co-workers at SYEMC.
“My favorite thing about my job is being able to represent the linemen in the field. I enjoy being able to speak with our members when they have questions regarding line work, and I enjoy learning something new daily,” said Mills.
Originally from Beckley, WV, Mills is a graduate of Independence High School. Once he completed school, he received certifications in the coal mine industry, managed a horse ranch, and worked for a veterinarian before choosing a career in the field he presently serves.
Mills is married to his wife, Charman of nine years and the two have four sons, Austin, Wyatt, Bryson, and Dakota. They also have two dogs, Tripp and Jett. The family enjoys camping, fishing, spending time at their cabin in the mountains, and playing cornhole. Mills also enjoys riding his motorcycle, hunting, and finding hidden items with his metal detector.
