Congratulations to the 2010 Roy Williams' UNC Basketball Camp scholarship recipient, George Poplin, of Elkin Elementary School.   George is the son of Thomas & Jilda Poplin of Jonesville.

Who is Eligible?

Young men in rising sixth through eighth grades are eligible for the Roy Williams' Carolina Camp Scholarship.  Each winner will receive an all-expense paid scholarship to attend the camp during the summer of 2010.  Contestants are to write a brief essay and complete an application form.

Kellie Harper Basketball Camp


For the past several years, Touchstone Energy, along with Surry-Yadkin EMC, has partnered to provide female middle school students the opportunity to attend the Kellie Harper NC State Basketball Camp held each summer.

Who is eligible?

Young women in rising sixth through eighth grades are eligible for the Kellie Harper NC State Basketball Camp Scholarship. The Cooperative Leadership Camp

The Cooperative Leadership Camp is an educational program of the Cooperative Council of North Carolina. The five-day resident camping program features speakers, workshops, recreation, and small group sessions with special emphasis on how cooperatives operate and how to develop leadership skills.

In order to be considered for the trip students must be between 15-18 years old and still in high school as well as complete an application, receive electric service from Surry-Yadkin Electric Membership and write a brief (250) word essay.
